Nova Counseling Associates Inc Releases a Cultural Diversity Test Including a Racial Attitude Test.

Big Rapids, MI—June 10, 2005— Thomas Rundquist, president of Nova Counseling Associates Inc, developed tests that can evaluate a variety of biases including: racial, ethnic, gender and religious. Recently reviewed in the Mental Measurements Yearbook 16th Edition, the tests are designed for educators and corporations that might be the target of racial or gender discrimination lawsuits. Rundquist says the tests not only help prevent discrimination lawsuits, they can also be used as a defense if a school or corporation is sued. He says having the test results on file will show whether an institution had discrimination problems, and if so, what was done to correct them.
The Cultural Diversity Test uses a combination of true and false questions, multiple choice questions, Attributional Style Questionnaire, Discriminatory Response Questionnaire and Attitudes Toward Diversity Scale to determine an employee’s/student’s attitudes toward cultural diversity. The Racial Attitude Test asks employees/students questions about the physical appearance, ego strength (such as dominance, morality and control) and social acceptance about a particular race or culture to determine racial attitudes.
Rundquist did the original research at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research when he was a graduate student in 1969. The tests were revised in 1997, and have been used by different corporations and educational institutions ever since, say Rundquist. He also pointed out that they have been published in the Mental Measurement Yearbook, and recently two psychologists in California used the test for their graduate theses and tested thousands of people randomly across the country.
